Initiate Robes of the Holy Bloodline

Current Vault 551 Status

Population: 63
Overall Happiness: 82%
Benny Happiness: 98%
Wealth: 911 caps

So times have been eventful for Vault 551 and fruitful for Father Benny's Church of the Divine Copulation.

Population continues to grow, and the new radio station continues to attract new potential followers from across the Wasteland to come and be saved through the Father's holy sacraments.  This open door policy, unfortunately, also led to Vault 551's first Deathclaw attack.  Until now, security breaches have been confined to rodents and raiders, most easily repelled.  The appearance and assault of vicious Deathclaws has brought new levels of fear and uncertainty to our placid little underground community.

Thankfully, as our Wasteland explorers have recently returned with a solid collection of high grade weapons and armor, the Vault Door guards and the brave workers of Water Reclamation Unit 1 were able to successfully defend the Vault in a mighty cataclysm of laser and plasma gunfire.  This event, though victorious for our forces, has left many Vault Dwellers wondering: what next?

What next, indeed?

Father Benny himself was barely even aware of the Deathclaw attack at the time, as the CoDC Sanctuary is located five levels below where the firefight took place.  He remains one of the happiest citizens of Vault 551.  The Father has in recent days imbibed himself up to a natural 6 Charisma, which when added to the 4 Charisma bestowed upon him by the Holy Cleric Garments, puts him as charismatic as it is possible to be in Fallout Shelter.

Guess who that is drinking next to him, not nearly as awesome.
As you can see from his stats, Father Benny's survival hinges more or less on his ability to talk his way in and out of things (Charisma), get lucky from time to time (Luck), and run like hell when things go bad (Agility).  It is a trifle concerning for us that he is no longer 100% happy - not that 98% isn't still pretty good, but the Father's happiness is the Vault's happiness and any drop is cause for worry.

His vaguely downcast mood is likely due to his lack of any very recent Sacraments.  Recognizing that a successful church is not built on raw animal magnetism alone - and strongly influenced by reading Grognak Comic Issue #1 37 times in a row - Father Benny has been busy assembling a power hierarchy.  As mentioned earlier, our Vault explorers have returned recently with a large collection of outfits and weapons.  Within this bonanza, the Father found a half dozen Brotherhood of Steel Initiate Robes (+2 Charisma) and claimed them for the greater good of the Church of Divine Copulation.

Father Benny's happiness is Vault 551's happiness, and don't you damned well forget it.

The first recipient of official CoDC clerical attire (not to be confused with the Holy Cleric Garments) was Mark Sanders, who has grown up and yet continues to still be pretty useless.  He no longer talks to his cardboard "friends" down in the supply depot or wanders into power rooms asking for guns to play with.  However, Mark is still very capable of causing trouble through his profound stupidity and general incompetence, and so the Father has decided that it would be best to keep Mark at his side, where he can keep an eye on him.  As such, Mark thinks that he is next in line for succession, and spends most of his time kissing the Father's ass and agreeing with whatever he hears.

Mark is agreeable, unless you'd rather that he not be.  Then he can be disagreeable, if you want.

After the Deathclaw attack, the Vault Overseer decided that it'd be best to take the radio off the air for a bit while we put in some infrastructure improvements.  This put the radio station crew out of work temporarily, but Father Benny came to the rescue: Initiate Robes for all high-charisma disk jockeys!

The V551 Wacky Zoo Morning Crew buffing with weights, totally NOT for future CoDC Inquisitions.

And thus, the Father capitalized on the Vault's first Deathclaw episode in order to expand the reach of the Church - and to ensure that, when the radio station inevitably returns to broadcasting, it will be staffed by professionals loyal to the tenets of the Church of the Divine Copulation.

That move led to another important issue: securing the legacy of the Divine Family bloodline.  Bishop Mark thinks that he will take over the Church after Father Benny's inevitable apotheosis.  However, Mark holds little respect among the Father's closest and most influential lieutenants, mainly due to the lad's frustrating inability to shut his damned mouth and focus.

"So Mark, what holy icon do you think would best represent our eternal faith and doctrine?"

The true heir is known only to Father Benny at this point.  Her name is Kathleen Cooper: the firstborn, the first true child of the Church, and the only offspring to date to have assumed Father Benny's own birth surname.  Kathleen (3 Charisma) has been hard at work in Power Station 2 all this time, learning the practical day-to-days of Vault operation and honing her leadership skills.

Fair-haired Kathleen is our hope.  Our light.  The bearer of our Church's future.

Sometimes you're just born with a job, Kathy.  Especially in this church.  Drink up.
Kathleen will still require considerably more experience and alcohol consumption before she will be ready to take over the reins as a full Church leader.  In the meantime, Father Benny needs a strong woman at his right hand, who will help guide the flock and provide an inspirational beacon of light for the Vault's many unwashed heathen.

And she shall be named Rebecca (above, center), gathered from the pilgrims of the Vault 551 radio station, formerly of the radio comedy team Bill and Becky, now anointed Rebecca The Wise.  And so shall she sit at Father Benny's side faithfully until Kathleen The Fair ascends to her own just rule.

And lo, she shall be known as Rebecca The Wise, and she shall dig it quite a lot.

And so that seems to wrap up the story of How Father Benny Went From 100% To 98% Happiness In The Wake Of The Deathclaw Attack.  In short, he has been busy with the business end of his new church, preparing for the next wave of blessings to arrive at the Church of the Divine Copulation.

Soon the time will come to begin codifying Church scriptures and establishing formal doctrine.  But for now, Father Benny seems to still be moving in a productive direction.  While the radio station remains offline, the only new population source in Vault 551 will be the dwellers themselves, with the Church exercising a growing influence over vault procreation.  This, no doubt, will bring Father Benny soon back to 100% happiness in a fair jiffy while raising the Church he has founded to new and glorious heights.

Father Benny and the CoDC Sanctuary, open for business when you are.
